Overview

Mark has a major sub-specialist interest in hand surgery and is routinely involved in the management of common hand conditions, congenital differences affecting children's hands and also in the treatment of hand injuries. The latter involves not only emergency surgery but also secondary surgical procedures to enhance function and appearance.

The spectrum of conditions affecting the hand and upper limb is incredibly broad and it is therefore not possible to provide details of them all on this website. Instead, I will provide information on the commonest hand conditions and will leave it to patients to make their own enquiries for additional information on subjects not covered here.

It is important to be aware that good results following hand surgery are seldom possible without the input of a skilled hand therapist to assist with physical rehabilitation. Patients who are determined to make a good recovery and who put the maximum effort into their therapy, usually get the best results from surgery.
